Hard Work Finally Pays Off: Woodland Captains Go All NVL

John Sizer and Alexander Farr’s hard work on the soccer field did not go unnoticed. It finally paid off when they received the All NVL title.

Sizer and Farr demonstrated their dedication and love for the team by playing approximately 1,120 minutes this season.

“I was happy to receive the award because I know how hard I’ve worked and it’s awesome to have the recognition,” Sizer said.

Sizer found out about the award immediately after a tough loss; however, in the moment, he still knew that he deserved the award.

Farr was also feeling a mix of many emotions but knowing that he won the award gave him a sense of joy in the devastating moment of the season ending. Farr has been around the game a long time and, as a senior, this is some of his best advice.

“I think that my biggest advice to a young athlete would be to enjoy what you are doing and make it an obsession,” stated Farr. “If you are having fun and obsessing over something, whether it be a sport or a certain class in school, then it will be a breeze and you will realize very quickly how much better you can become at that interest.”

Despite the bittersweet ending to the season, Sizer and Farr know that their hard work was worth the long hours and grueling practices.
