Woodland’s Top Picks of Ice Cream

Here at the Woods we enjoy our quality time with each other. From Summer to Spring, we enjoy the time we share with people while eating an ice cream however, the question remains: what is the best place to get an ice cream?

In a survey of sixty students, about fifty-one percent of them said their favorite place to get ice cream was The Big Dipper located in Prospect. The Big Dipper first opened in1986, with business booming since. With over 50 flavors to choose from, this ice cream parlor has been a go to for families of Region 16.

“It is one of my favorite places to go with friends; there is a variety of flavors that are all scrumptious,” said Corrine Melisky, a current freshman and resident of Prospect.

Beacon Falls students may not be as familiar with The Big Dipper as Prospect students. Originating in Seymour, Ajelloś farm is now located in Oxford and known as Rich’s farm. Since 1994, the farm has been growing in popularity by offering more than one hundred-twenty flavors. The family friendly environment makes it perfect to sit outside on a brisk summer day while enjoying a refreshing dessert.

“One of my favorite flavors from Rich’s has to be Cookie Monster,” said Julia Dommel, another freshman that loves ice cream. “After sports, my parents would always take me there when I was little to get my favorite sweet.”

Depending on where you are in Naugatuck during a Friday or Saturday night, there is always one place to get good ice cream, or even an ice cream cake. Carvel is one of the best places to get the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Sundae Dasher. With more delicious flavors , the students here at Woodland enjoy this old-fashioned parlor to get a quick treat.

Without a doubt, there is always a nice delicious place in or outside of Region 16 for the students here at Woodland to enjoy a rich and sweet ice cream.
