Mike Magas, the man with many jobs, has many responsibilities outside being a teacher and with these responsibilities comes balance.

Magas is a teacher at Woodland Regional High School, but that is not his only job. In addition to teaching, Magas is also the coach of the WRHS Girls Swim Team, the advisor for the DECA Club, a real estate agent, and a full-time dad and husband. Needless to say, he is always busy.

Having all these responsibilities can make it hard for some to find time to relax. But for Magas, it’s all about balance. He makes sure to not spend a lot of time on social media, also he also saves time to spend with loved ones.

“I make it a point of spending time with them,” said Magas. “We only get one shot on this ride so I make sure I’m with the ones I love as often as possible.”

A major challenge Magas has is not being able to give his full effort into everything he does. It can get a bit overwhelming and sometimes he just needs a break. An obstacle he had to overcome was the decision to stop coaching during the winter and spring season. Which ultimately was something he had to do to give 100% to everything else.

Magas stated that there are a lot of perks to doing what he does. A major perk is being able to spend time with the people he loves and spread that joy amongst others.

“I also receive joy and it makes me happy when I can make a difference in others lives – I love seeing people smile and laugh,” said Magas.

Overall Magas enjoys all these jobs the same. He states that if he didn’t enjoy the jobs, he wouldn’t be doing it. He enjoys the environment that each job brings and loves the people around him.

“Life is too short to waste time on negative activities or being around negative people,” said Magas.
