Paige Letourneau: Soccer All-Star

From town recreation to all-state soccer, Paige Letourneau has proven that hard work and dedication can take you all the way.

Letourneau began her soccer career at the age of three, playing for the Prospect recreation team with her dad, Coach Will Letourneau.  She eventually moved on from the town’s rec team to the Prospect travel team with Coaches Dave Bell and Bill Kotsaftis.

“I really liked Prospect travel growing up because it helped me grow up with a lot of my friends that I currently talk to and still play with now,” said Letourneau.

Letourneau also played for Brazil CT for one year and eventually moved to PSC Dynamo.

“I really like PSC Dynamo because we have had a lot of success.”

In the off season she trains at EliteSoccerPerformance with James Perkins, Letourneau’s trainer, who has greatly helped her improve her skills to better prepare herself for the upcoming winter season.

“I have been going to an independent one-on-one training with my trainer James Perkins who I have been going to since I was nine,” said Letourneau.  “He has helped me improve my offensive ability to score or help others score and the ability to read the game.  He has overall had a major impact on the player I am today.”

Letourneau currently plays for the Woodland Regional High School girls’ soccer team and was the junior captain for the 2021 fall season.  Her performance throughout her high school career has improved because she became more comfortable with the dynamic of the Woodland team.  Her track record is very impressive: Freshman-nine goals, five assists, All-Conference; Sophomore year-18 goals, nine assists, All-NVL, All-State, Second Team All-State by GameTime CT, and Offensive Player of the Year for the Woodland girls team; and Junior year-22 goals, 16 assists, All-NVL, All-State, Second Team All-State by GameTimeCT, Athlete of the Week on September 20, 2021 from TheZone, 25 CIAC Girls Soccer Players to Watch for the 2021 Season, and was given MVP of the year for the high school team.

In order to become an impact player, you need to have drive.  Letourneau’s drive comes from her coach.

“My biggest motivation is definitely proving myself to my coach, allowing him to put his faith in me to help our team be successful.”

Letourneau not only wants to make an impact on the Woodland girls’ team, her goal is to play soccer in college; she hopes to achieve this at Franklin Pierce University.

“Franklin Pierce is my top school right now because they have expressed their interest in me and they really like my playing style and have also given me much help in improving the player I am,” said Letourneau. “I love their school and their athletic program.”

When Letourneau looks to the future, she cannot imagine herself not playing soccer.  She has big goals for the upcoming season, including the personal goal of going All-State again.

“I’m very proud and honored to receive [the title of All-State].  It is something that means a lot to me and I hope to get it next year as well,” said Letourneau, “It really helps me look back on all my hard work and be proud of what I’ve done.”
