Take What You Need Bulletin Board

On the colorful and eye-catching bulletin board, eight different envelopes are displayed, each labeled with a different theme, such as patience or love. Within these envelopes are quotes or phrases relating to the theme of the envelope.

The “Take What You Need” bulletin board is located to the right of the guidance office. The bulletin board was created by Hawk Wings and its advisor, Anna Muharem, as a way to represent what the Hawk Wings’ is all about.

“The whole purpose of the Hawk Wings club is to promote kindness throughout the community,” said Muharem.

In addition, Muharem believed that with the pandemic going on in the world at the moment, this bulletin board is something that everyone needs. She thought people just needed a little something to boost their moods and attitude.

“I thought this is more important than ever, because all those things listed up there like patience, love, and compassion have become super important,” said Muharem.

The bulletin board can also be a helpful resource to students. Whatever their specific need is, the students or staff can just grab it, and hopefully, it will make their day a bit brighter.

“Everyone has their own specific needs,” Muharem explains. “ Walking around and going, you know, I could use a little patience, or I need some peace. I like that it’s in the hallway and it’s subtle.”

But it’s not just the students and staff that Hawk Wings are trying to help, Muharem talks about how even she has taken something for the bulletin board a few times and it has helped her get in a more positive mood.

The promotion of positivity and kindness does not stop here; Hawk Wing’s latest project is in the works and will help the students and staff become more involved in making Woodland a more kind environment. Their plan is to create a kindness tree, where students can add leaves to the tree whenever they witness different acts of kindness. Muharem’s goal is to fill up the whole tree by the end of the year.

Muharem and the rest of the Hawk Wings’ have done a great job with spreading kindness throughout the school. With all the new projects they have in the works, Woodland will continue to become a kinder environment.
