End of Season Recap: Volleyball

The Woodland Regional High School volleyball team led a successful 2021 season and made it to NVL finals against Seymour High School.

The team created and accomplished goals with the help of their team captains.

“We had high aspirations, but we did not set impossible standards for ourselves,” said co-captain Rory Nolan.

The captains are proud of their team for showing consistent effort throughout the entire season. The team believed in the balance of hard work and fun.

“We made sure there was a time to goof around, but there is a time to get down and do work,” said co-captain Cassidy Doiron.

Nolan and Doiron, with the help of their other co-captain, Kylie Bulinski, created a tight-knit relationship for the varsity team. Everyone had a great connection and enjoyed each other’s company.

“We are all good friends and have good relationships,” Nolan said.

The team went through many challenges throughout the season and had their doubts. Their greatest challenge was facing Naugatuck and Seymour.

“We definitely came in not realizing we could make it far in NVLs,” Bulinski said.

The NVL game lasted for five sets and resulted with Woodland winning the first two sets and Seymour winning the final three resulting in Seymour’s NVL victory. Although Woodland lost, they were still proud of themselves for making it to NVL finals.

“We were like the underdogs and everyone underestimated us,” Doiron said. “But we proved ourselves.”
