Woodland’s Schedule Compared to Other Schools

From fully online to hybrid, school districts have reacted to the pandemic differently, and the schedules are very different.

Cooperative Arts & Humanities High School (Coop) in New Haven is currently fully distanced learning. They have a school schedule similar to Woodland’s. Mondays and Thursdays are odd days, while Tuesdays and Fridays are even days. On odd days, all odd number classes are in session, while on even days, the even number classes are in session.

The only difference between Woodland and Coop’s Wednesday schedule is that Coop has a regular day that alternates between odd and even days.

There are many other schools with a schedule similar to Woodland’s. Pathways Academy of Technology and Design in East Hartford has advisory days on Tuesday and Thursday, and non-advisory days on Monday and Friday. Their Wednesdays are fully online half days, similar to the Woodland schedule. The school has half the alphabet in school Monday and Tuesday, and then the other half on Thursday and Friday.

Naugatuck High School is not like the Woodland schedule at all. In Naugatuck, the students go into school in-person, but do not eat lunch at the school. Instead, they leave at 12:30, when their last class ends Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, there is an early-release in person day, which can be very confusing.

They also have an A day and B day schedule, where Monday and Tuesday are A days, Wednesday and Thursday are B days, and Fridays alternate.

Students everywhere have been adjusting to the new schedules, and have let it become the new normal. “After hearing about the other schedules,” Molly Kennedy, a sophomore at Woodland, commented, “I definitely think Woodland’s is simpler to understand.”
