Woodland Girl’s Swim Record Breakers

The Girl’s Swim season has come to a close, and even though the season looked very different this year, there were still many athletes who went above and beyond by putting their names on the record board.  The athletes on the girls’ swim team have truly shown that when you are dedicated, even under peculiar circumstances, you can achieve your goals.

During the 2020 fall season, two records were broken including the 200-yard medley relay and the 100-yard breaststroke.

The 200-yard medley relay is the event that leads off every swim meet.  This record was broken at the final meet of the season.  The group included Kyla Berhle (backstroke), Emme Starzman (breaststroke), Maura Beltrami (butterfly), and Molly Kennedy (freestyle).  The record to beat before the 2020 season was 1:57.92 and the new 200-yard medley relay is 1:55.22.

The 100-yard breaststroke record was broken three times over the course of the 2020 season all by freshman Emme Starzman.  The first time she broke the record was at the very first meet of the season with a time of 1:13.21.  Throughout the rest of the season, she was determined to beat that time.  The record to beat before the 2020 season was 1:13.62, the new record time for the 100 yard breaststroke record is 1:09.89.

The team will continue their hard work in order to have an even better season this coming fall.
