Lunch Plans for the Winter

With the weather getting colder as we continue the school year, the plan for lunch has changed. At lunch, the number of seats at each table is limited. At the start of the year, students had the privilege to sit outside under tents, but this has changed as the temperature dropped. Weather wasn’t the only thing that affected the lunch schedule.

Students and teachers voted on whether they wanted an eight or four-block schedule, which resulted in the return of the four-block schedule. Dr. Dana Mulligan, Woodland vice-principal, explained that the four-block schedule includes three lunch waves, allowing more space for students to social distance and follow safety protocols.

“We are going to go back to lunch during A3 and B3 and have three lunch waves,” Dr. Mulligan stated.

Every lunch wave has less than 120 students, according to Dr. Mulligan. The new lunch schedule takes care of the issue that students will no longer have to sit outside in the bitter weather. In the cafeteria, the tables have been modified to distance students, and this space provided by the extra lunch wave now allows students to safely enjoy their lunch during this pandemic.
