Summer Bucket List 2018

Summer Bucket List:

Summer is just around the corner, and most of your big plans for the long break include sleeping, eating, and Netflix. While this does seem appealing to most teenagers, others might wish to do more with their lives. Make the most of your summer this year by having fun and being adventurous. Enjoy these next few months before school begins once again. If you have a tough time thinking about what to do over break, here are a few ideas to get you started.

Go kayaking

This is both a fun activity and good exercise. Good places to go boating are at Scoot & Paddle in Milford and Black Fall Outfitters in Old Lyme.

Outdoor concert @Xfinity Center

Concerts are a place to be when you realize how great it is to be alive. Go get your tickets to go see Kendrick Lamar, Logic, Sam Hunt, and others!

Go to Six Flags

Bring out your inner kid by spending the day riding roller coasters. Try some fan favorite rides including Superman Ride of Steel, X2, Goliath, Roaring Rapids, and Viper.

Go swimming in a lake

Try and find a rope to swing into the water too. Some fun lakes to go to around here include Indian Well State Park, Hop Brook Lake, and Lake Quassapaug. Perks of the last lake is that there’s an amusement park right next to it!

Day trip to NY

Spend the day in Central Park and when the sun goes down, visit Times Square. There are countless activities to do in the city which include seeing a Broadway show, going shopping, visiting Ripley’s Believe it or Not, or taking a boat ride to the Statue of Liberty.

Have a picnic on the beach

Bring your favorite food and favorite people for a small meal on the water. Some beaches to hit this summer are Hammonasset Beach State Park, Rocky Neck, and Silver Sands.

Go camping

There’s nothing better than the great outdoors. Cook hotdogs over the open fire, roast marshmallows, and oh yes, get eaten by mosquitoes.

Go on a hike with your family

Spend some quality time with parents and siblings on a walk around Sleeping Giant or Southford Falls.

Host a bonfire

Nothing says summer like being with your friends and hanging out by the fire.

Visit Mystic

This cute oceanside town is filled with shops, restaurants, and paddleboarding. Some places to hit are the Mystic Candy Shop, Franklin’s General Store, and Tidal River Clothing Co.

Travel!

Go somewhere exotic that you’ve never been before. Visit the Bahamas, Cancun, or Punta Cana.

Drive up to Watch Hill Beach

Not only does this Rhode Island beach have nice waves, but it is also the location of Taylor Swift’s beach house.

Go to a drive-in movie

Throwing it back to the 50s with this fun activity of watching classic films from the comfort of your car. A great place to do this is at the Southington Twin Drive-In Theatre.

Participate in a color or bubble run

Gather some friends and have fun with this cool twist on running.

Adopt a puppy!

Nothing says summer more than welcoming a new life into the family.

These are just a few suggestions out of the million possible activities you can do this summer. You won’t be young forever, so get outside, live it up, and make these next months of as memorable as they can get.
