Student Government Named Gold Council of Excellence for Fourth Year

To be named a Gold Council of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils for one year is a success in and of itself. To be named Gold Council of Excellence not one, but four years in a row is a prestigious honor.

In recognition of their exemplary leadership, service, and activities, the Woodland Student Government has achieved Gold Council of Excellence for four years in a row. They were awarded this title by the NASC for meeting the association’s standards and criteria.

Student Body President Elect, Anna Witkowski , commends the work of all the students in keeping up the standards that earned them the award. She believes she has contributed to the success of the organization by being an active member and helping with the projects throughout the year.

“It is an honor for Student Government to once again be acknowledged for our hard work by a national organization, and it is an honor for me to be a part of a nationally-recognized organization,” said Witkowski.

Student Government Advisor Christopher Tomlin applauds the hard work and commitment from all members in achieving this recognition.

“It’s just as exciting as the first year,” said Tomlin, who has witnessed this organization grow and develop greatly since first receiving this honor.

Tomlin hopes current membership will continue to push limits and set goals. He notes that there are always ways for the organization to improve and believes these changes will ultimately ensure even that they are serving the student body to the best of their abilities.

Witkowski hopes that Student Government will be able to maintain this standard in years to come. In accordance with Tomlin, she expects that the program will be making changes to committees, how events are run, and integrating the Student Government and Leadership course.

Witkowski said, “I’m very excited for these changes and working towards improving the organization, as is our goal each year.”
