Leo’s Club Hosts Talent Show

Do you need a chance to show off your talent? Are you a part of a band that needs more recognition? Well, thanks to the Beacon Falls Leo’s Club, you are in luck. They will be hosting their first ever talent show on Thursday, February 16, from 6-10 p.m. in the Woodland auditorium.

The Leo’s Club has been planning this event since the end of November. The idea came about after realizing there hasn’t been a major fundraiser for the organization recently. Treasurer Michael Baz and Secretary Natalie Katrenya proposed the idea of a talent show. The Leo’s Club is also led by president Christopher Lauck and co-vice-presidents, Alec Feducia and Eric Miner.

“Helping people out and being an active member of my community has always been important to me. I’m glad I contribute to my community when I can. It makes me feel great whenever we sit down, plan things accordingly, and put out a great project to help better our community,” said Vice President Eric Miner when asked to reflect on his seven years with the organization.

Leo’s Club is a club geared towards helping their community. A few of their annual events consist of running a fried dough booth at the Seymour Pumpkin Festival, changing missalettes at St. Michael’s Church, buying farm animals to help support developing countries, etc. The club meets every second Tuesday of the month and their next meeting will be this Tuesday, February 14th.

If you are interested in signing up, ask Christopher Lauck, Alec Feducia, Michael Baz, or Natalie Katrenya for more information, or message one of them on Schoology. The following acts have already signed up:

  • Jon Daly’s Jazz Band
  • Michael Baz, Natalie Katrenya, Jill Plante, and Ryan Zhou
  • Treehouse of Bees (Jon Ridge, Matt Hicks, David Esselfie)
  • Ian Romanski’s Band
  • Jeremy Edmond
  • Mr. Riello and Mr. Meyers duo
  • Clara Fauteux
  • Parish Edwards
  • Thomas Landrymickett
  • Casey Donnelly

When asked about his bands upcoming performance, Matt Hicks could not contain his excitement.

“The band and I are really excited to perform. It’s been a long time coming and we’ve been practicing for a long time. We look forward to show off what we’ve collectively made. We’re just really anxious to get out there.”

Leo’s members will be going around to tables selling tickets for the show. They are $3 before the show and $5 at the door. Who will come out on top? Well, that will be up to the audience. Containers will be placed outside the auditorium with contestants names on them. Money will then be placed in the containers to see who the winner is ($1 = 1 vote). Be sure to support this event and get ready to be blown away by the talent.
