“October 7 was National Mentoring Day and Sikorsky invited out high schools across the area to come in and learn about manufacturing and the accommodations they provide for people.
They started out with an informational session about how to ask for accommodations at your job and shared their positive experiences with Sikorsky. They then talked about the types of jobs they have at Sikorsky.
The best part, of course, is when they took us on a tour of the facility. We had the head pilot at Sikorsky as our tour guide and he showed us how they make their helicopters from start to finish. We ended the tour with a visit to Igor Sikorsky’s office and his vision for Sikorsky and how he made it come to fruition.
It was an amazing trip that got a lot of our students interested in manufacturing as a career.”
