Fall Sports Update

All fall sports have quickly begun at Woodland this past week. Here is the update on all fall sports this week:

Starting Friday, Volleyball has began their season with a 1-1 record after a first loss to Torrington, and a win against Naugatuck. The team fell 3-0 in the game at Torrington, but fought for a win in the five set game against Naugatuck, finishing 3-2. The team will have their next game on Friday September 16th against Oxford at Oxford.

Football also began their season with a tough loss to Crosby High School. The game ended with a final score of 29-41, Crosby. The team will continue their season Friday night at Watertown High School. The game against the Watertown Indians will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Girls Soccer has started the season with a 2-0 record, with wins over Seymour (final score: 7-0) and Watertown (final score: 3-1). The team looks to continue the great start at their game against Naugatuck on Friday. The game will be home with kick off at 3:30 p.m.

Also beginning undefeated the Boys Soccer teams looks to continue their winning streak Friday against Naugatuck after beating both Seymour and Kennedy. The win against Seymour came at Seymour High School in a close 2-1 game, while Kennedy was home and the team finished in a 4-2 win. The game Friday will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Naugatuck field.

Girls and Boys Cross Country began their season in a combined meet against Naugatuck, Kennedy, and Seymour on Tuesday. The Boys fell to both Naugatuck and Kennedy, but took home a win over Seymour. The Girls however defeated all three teams to start undefeated once again. Both teams will take on St. Paul, Wilby, and Waterbury Career in another conjoined meet next Tuesday September 20th. The meet will be at St. Paul High School starting at 3:45 p.m.

Girls Swimming and Diving began their season last, but took home a win against John Law from Milford. The meet finished unofficial, beginning the season for the team with a win. The Girls’ will swim Suffield High School at home on Friday. The meet will start at 5:00 p.m.
