Best Places to Spend your Summer Beach Days

When people think of Connecticut, usually beaches aren’t the first thing that comes to mind. Although, there are still many beaches throughout Connecticut that you could go to to spend the day.

One popular beach to go to is Silver Sands State park in Milford. There is nearby parking, free of charge.  There is a great area to walk at near the beach. Another popular beach in Milford is Walnut beach.

Another popular beach is Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison. At this beach, there are many different activities to do including picnicking, bicycling, and camping. It is Connecticut’s largest shoreline, over 2 miles of beach, where you can relax in the sun and have a nice walk on the boardwalk.

Ocean Beach Park in New London is also a great place to go to in the summer to spend a day with close friends and family. The beach is a half mile with a boardwalk. On the opposite side of the boardwalk you will see the rest of the park, consisting of a nature trail, a picnic area, a pool, a gift shop and more. The pool is a 50 meter, olympic sized pool. There are changing rooms and a token-operated lockers. There also is a spray park for the younger children.

Jennings beach in Fairfield is another beach in Connecticut. It is the largest beach in Fairfield, and has great views of Long Island Sound. It is a great place to watch the 4th of July fireworks with your family. It is also free and open to the public.

Throughout the summer when some days there is nothing to do, you can spend a day at one of the beaches on a hot summer day just tanning and swimming in the nice cool water.
