Digital Media to Hold Big Dipper Fundraiser to Benefit Scholarship Fund

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!”  Who doesn’t like ice cream? This is the thought behind the upcoming fundraiser for the digital media program at Woodland Regional High School (WRHS).

The Woodland Digital Media Booster Club is having a fundraiser at The Big Dipper Ice Cream Factory in Prospect, Connecticut. It is scheduled for Friday, May 20, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. until closing time at the Big Dipper, 9:00 p.m.

The digital media program will profit from the fundraiser by a percentage of ice cream sales from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.  These profits will be put toward the three scholarships awarded to seniors applying to college for a broadcasting or digital media related degree. Each scholarship is worth $300 and will be awarded at the upcoming scholarship night at Woodland.

Ralph Riello, digital media teacher at Woodland, enjoys working with Big Dipper and is hopeful for a good turnout. He hopes that the weather is nice on Friday and it motivates many people to go out for ice cream. Riello feels it is a good fundraiser to do because it is a quick and easy idea that is great to do before the end of the school year. He credits the Digital Media Booster Club for coming up with the idea for the fundraiser, citing that they decided to do the fundraiser again after it was successfully done a few years ago to raise funds for a trip to New York City for a film festival.

So, what do you say, if I scream, you scream, and we all scream for ice cream, why not support WRHS digital media by buying an ice cream at The Big Dipper this Friday night?
