Woodland Class of 2017 Hosts Disney Dinner Event

Meeting your favorite Disney Princess, Prince, the Star Wars cast, Mickey Mouse is a dream come true for most kids.

But you can’t travel to Disney World and back in a day.

Woodland’s junior class of 2017 is holding a dinner with Disney characters to make these dreams come true. Here little girls and boys from Prospect Elementary School, Laurel Ledge School and surrounding towns can dress up as their favorite disney character and meet them at Woodland Regional High School.

The original idea for the Disney Dinner came from Jill. Blasi, who told the class of 2017 about a similar fundraiser that happened in her town. Last year the class of 2017 did the same breakfast with Disney Princesses.

Here, little boys and girls got to meet and take pictures with their favorite Disney Princess. The class raised upwards of two thousand dollars. After the class had this fundraiser, comments and praises from the parents flooded in for weeks after the event.

Woodland 2017 Class President Alyssa Varesio explains that it was a great experience for all who attended and that hosting another one would only benefit the class and the community.

“It was a team bonding experience for everyone who volunteered, and I think it showed participants how much work actually goes into running such a huge event,” said Varesio. “It was also very lucrative, which is a major benefit.”

This year, the class will have princesses, princes, the Star Wars cast, Mickey Mouse and a few special guest appearances. The class of 2017 is re-doing the photo background to bring more interest to the little kids. Little kids are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Disney character.

The Disney Dinner is being held on May 20th at 5:00pm until 7:00pm on the top floor of Woodland Regional High School. The tickets costs $5 with a pre-ordered ticket and $7 at the door. To pre-order tickets email Melissa Barbero at mbarbero@region16ct.org.
