Woodland Baseball Ruins the Raiders for a Senior Night Win

The Woodland Hawks Baseball Team is in the final stretch of their regular season. Tuesday, the team played their senior night against the Torrington Red Raiders, and they came away with an 11-4 win. With the win, the Hawks have now qualified for the Class M tournament.

Sophomore Matt Stzurma started the game on the mound with freshmen Colby Linnell behind the plate as the starting catcher.  In the sixth and seventh inning Zach Bedryzcuk came in to pitch and sealed the win.  Some of the notable performances at the plate were Colby Linnell who had an RBI single and a sacrifice fly, and Jarrett Allen and Zach Bedryzcuk who both belted doubles.

During the handshakes at the end of the game, a small scuffle broke out between the Torrington players and the Hawks.  Before any punches were thrown, it was broken up by Woodland Coach, Jack Debiase.  The Hawks will take on Coginchaug High School next at Woodland Regional.  With clinching a playoff berth, things are only looking up for the Hawks.
