The very first meeting of the newly installed Pineapple Club has just taken place this past May the 4th. Because of the novelty of the club, many students may not be aware of what the club is all about. So, what exactly is the Pineapple Club?

This club, started by a few freshmen and Mr. Tomlin, is a club all about friendship, happiness, and charity channeled through the tropical fruit. The biannual meetings are set to be held on May 4th, in accordance with the famous Star Wars reference, “May the Fourth be with you,” and November 5th, in honor of the “Fifth of November” poem written to commemorate the ending of the Gunpowder Plot, to stop King James the First.

At Pineapple Club meetings, all are welcome.. The only requirement is that you bring yourself, a can of pre-diced pineapple, and 5 dollars. All of the money brought will be donated to a charity of the group’s choosing. This year, all of the money raised will be donated to Feeding America, a non-profit organization focused on feeding homeless and struggling people through food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.

The first Pineapple Club meeting raised $75 for Feeding America. In the future, the club creators hope to bring in as many members as possible to help the fight against hunger. If the pineapple is symbolic for warmth and welcoming, then it is the perfect symbol for a club based on happiness and helping others.
