After a six-match win streak, the Girls’ Tennis team struggled with two repeated losses last week. Both losses came down to one match–making it even tougher for the team. Monday, the team worked towards a strong 7-2 win in their match against the Holy Cross Crusaders, but Friday, the team once again fell just short, with a 3-4 loss.

The team is now 7-3 and while the team is no longer undefeated, the doubles-2 team remains undefeated. Doubles-2 is made up of two juniors, Alyssa Varesio and Angelina Padilla, who have shown they can work well as a team and have already qualified for states. The two along with junior, Ally Mayne, and sophomore, Amanda Doughney, won in Friday’s game against the Wolcott Eagles.

Though they have lost three out of the four games these last two weeks, the team is not discouraged or defeated in the long run and is ready to push through the rest of the season.

“It has been hard the last two weeks, but my team and I are ready to continue to fight,” believes Varesio, “we are not done yet.”

The girls will face off against Crosby High School at Woodland’s courts Wednesday, May 4th. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m.
