Girls Basketball Welcomes Morina Bojka

Driving down the court, to score another shot is Morina Bojka. This is a common occurrence for Bojak, one of the newest members of the Woodland Girls’ Basketball team.  Bojka transferred in this year from Chase Collegiate High School in Waterbury. Junior Bojka has greatly contributed in her short time on the team, even scoring 40 of the 64 points for the team in the win against Naugatuck in December. For most people, changing teams can be hard, but Bojka has found the transition easy because of her teammates.

“Everyone on the team welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like a part of the team,” said Bojka. “I could not ask for better teammates.” Bojka also believes that she has never been on a team like Woodland’s.

She said, “Playing for Woodland is definitely more intense than playing for other teams that I have played for before. Everyone on the team has a lot of heart and picks each other up after a mess up. ”

Bojka attributes her amazing season partly to her team and her new coach, Jessica Moffo, who she believes does a great job of pumping the players up and pushing them to succeed. The team has made Bojka a “team player”, something she has not been used to.

“Playing for the team has really changed my game and made me happy to play,” Bojka said. “In my recent high school years, my teammates did not play as a team, and we would blame each other for mistakes.”
