The field was drenched from the nearby hurricane, the grass slick and the atmosphere intense. Woodland’s record at the time was one to two. This game would be a decisive factor for the team. A loss would eliminate any play off opportunities, and a win would prove them as respectable and worthy opponents to all other teams in the NVL. From start to finish Woodland dominated the field. Minutes within the first quarter, Sean McAllen was set loose, running down the field for his first of four touchdowns.
Other athletes of note during the game were Ben Nuss, Coby Vaccarelli , and Zach Bedryczuk. Nuss and Vaccarelli both scored a rushing touchdown. Vaccarelli, also, running an interception in for a touchdown, and Bedryczuk threw one touchdown to McAllen and no interceptions.
The team worked as one cohesive unit to win the game. By half time the score was 38 to 0, and the final score was 40 to 7.
Woodland’s next game will be Friday, October 9, against Holy Cross at the Municipal Stadium.
