Girls Swim Sinks Oxford

On September 22nd, the Woodland Girls Swim team was stirring with nerves before entering the pool verse the Oxford Girls Swim team. Last year the girls lost by a mere few points, which in swimming can be placing second rather than first in an event. With such close results last year, the tension in the pool was thick, both teams prepared to perform harder this year than the last.

However after a close battle, Woodland earned the win with 101 points while Oxford held a close race with 85.

The highlights of the meet included Sarah Bryden, Kyla Drewry, Lisa Thrasher, and Brooke Pope taking first in the 200 yard medley race with the time of 2:12:11. Drewry also impressed during the 100 yard fly where she placed first. Some large points grabbed for the team came during the 100 yard back when Bryden locked in first, Drewry took third, and Jordan Williams took fourth, obtaining eleven points.

More swimmers of note were Tatianna Lynn, Brooke Pope, Veronica Dergachev, and Bryden who placed first for the 100 yard breast. Thrasher and Lauren Lombardo also contributed strongly to the team by placing second and third for diving. It was an incredible meet for the Hawks and the girls put together a true team effort to dominate the pool.
