LRMS: 2015 National Junior Honor Society Induction

by Allison Cerasale and Jessica Laprade, 4/7/15

Scholarship. Service. Leadership. Citizenship. Character. These traits are qualities that several 8th grade students at Long River Middle School possess. On March 10th, 2015, 43 students were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society because they have these qualities.

The following students were inducted into the Denis F. Broderick Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society at Long River Middle School.

The ceremony started when the honorees walked into “Don’t Stop Believin’” played by fellow honoree Natalie Katrenya on piano. Next, former officers introduced the four pillars of the JHS mentioned in the first paragraph. Each student was recognized to the audience for their own achievements and qualities. The ceremony concluded when the students lit their own candle off of former president Eliza Smith’s candle.

The National Junior Honor Society Induction ceremony was a special night for the members and their families. The fact that so many students achieved this honor only in the 8th grade is amazing. As the pledge the students recited states, the goal of the inductees is to follow high standards for the rest of middle school and throughout their entire lives.
