The Powder Puff Posse

The boys are back! With killer dance moves and black and gold pompoms, the Woodland Regional High School male cheerleading squad pepped up the crowd at the 3rd annual Powder Puff game.
The squad executed routines, chanting Hawk cheers under the lights of the football field, coached by choreographers, Alexa Kiernan and Mary Vlamis and stunt coordinators, Allison Knox and Kaitlyn Gutmann.
The cheerleaders were all seniors, sporting their best Woodland gear in their performance. Senior Cheerleader, Devin Henaghan, believed a high protein diet was the secret to the success of the cheerleading performance.
“You have to have a high protein diet,” said Henaghan.
All of the cheerleaders gave their best effort to deliver a halftime show that would captivate the viewers of the Powder Puff game.
“We had two practices that went really well,” said Henaghan. “Even though they only lasted a half an hour, we got a lot done.”
The crowd was fixated on the flamboyant performance of the Testosterone Troop.
“I think they were very amusing because it’s not common to see boys throwing each other into the air and doing cheers,” said freshman, Hailey Boris. “It was very comical and cool.”
Both the WRHS Football players and Cheerleaders have given one hundred and ten percent of their effort into making their seasons great this year. From decorating seniors’ lockers to baking goodies for games, the WRHS female cheerleaders are the football team’s biggest supporters and the football players are trying to show them how much their efforts mean.
“We’re going to start going to a few competitions at the end of the season,” said senior Alik Bures. “We’re asking them what we can do to help out because they do so much for us.”
It’s almost the end of the season and both teams have accomplished so much. They both help to pump up the school spirit at WRHS, making the Powder Puff game a huge success.
