VIDEO:: Honors Society– Valentines for Veterans

The first National Honor Society organization was established in 1921 and since then has been working to positively influence communities all across the nation. Here at Woodland, members of the honor society stayed after school on Thursday, January thirty-first in order to create Valentine’s Day Cards for Veterans. Senior, Angela Plourde, helped coordinate the event and explained why her group thought it was a good idea.

“Well, as an honor society we have so many projects that we have to do, and we thought it would be a good idea to give back to the community,” said Plourde.

Some students wrote short messages and others included long-heart felt notes inside of their cards. A majority of honors society members participated in the event. Senior, Mary Fitzgerald, explained why it was important to her to participate.

“Well, my dad is a veteran in the army and I think it’s really nice that we’re making these cards for veterans because I think, like, it will make them really happy,” said Fitzgerald.
