October snow storm still taking its toll in school

By Jordan Tolnay

During the last week of October a snow storm swept across the state, leaving behind over a foot of snow. Many towns across Connecticut, including Beacon Falls and Prospect were impacted by the unusual fall storm.

With leaves still on the trees catching the snow branches began snapping. The falling trees took down many power lines with them, leading to an incredible number of power outages all across the state. For Region 16 there was no power for one whole week, which meant no school.

The storm took place months ago, yet the effects are still being felt as mid-terms approach. Due to the week off everything was pushed back including exams. This means exams will begin on January 25th and will extend through January 30th instead of taking place on the originally planned dates.

Even though the storm took place in October the effects are stilling being felt now and will continue to be felt in June when finals are also a week later than originally planned.
