The Woodland Boys’ Tennis team made history this season. Not only did they go undefeated, but they won the first ever NVL Tournament in Woodland history for tennis.

Captain and Senior Mike Krakowski came into the season with goals in hand. “My goals for the season were to go not only All NVL, but to win the NVL Tournament and to make a deep run in the State Tournament,” said Krakowski.

His goals were accomplished as he did also recieve all NVL along with Sophomores Patrick Dietz and Kyle Beynor.

Krakowski had a big mindset on making sure he led his team to states because for the past few years, they ended up coming up short.

Although he is quiet, Krakowski leads his team best by setting an example. “As my teammates know, I am not really big on words. I motivate by setting an example. I play and practice hard, and hope that my teammates follow my example. Luckily, this year they all did,” said Krakowski.

As the season went on, Krakowski and his teammates starting believing more in winning the NVL Tournament. At first, it was just a goal they thought that they could maybe accomplish. But with their hard work and dedication day in and day out, they came through.

Last year, the Boys Tennis Team had an 8-10 record, but the returning players did not look back on it. Instead, they came back as strong as ever and turned the season around staying undefeated.

Although Krakowski will not continue playing on a Varsity team in college, he is looking to play for an intramural or club tennis team.

There is not a better way that this senior could have ended his senior year. He shows that it truly meant a lot to him. “This season was very special to me. I knew I wanted it to be a good one since it was my senior year, but it has surpassed all expectations. Our team has definitely bonded and I know I’ll be coming back next year to practice with them when I can,” said Krakowski.
