Air Conditioning at Woodland

Woodland seems to be getting hotter even though summer has come to an end. Teachers open windows and shut off the lights to try to cool the classrooms down, but the effectiveness is low.
“I don’t think you’d be hearing anyone complain if we had air conditioning,” said John Serdy, one of the janitors at Woodland, “The only thing is it would cost an amount I can’t even guess.”
The amount of time and money that would have to go into running the air conditioners are out of control, but so is the temperature in the school at times. The school would need a lot of air, though. In fact, just the gym and auditorium alone are 60 tons of air.
“The coolant we would need to run the air conditioning units is not sold anymore, and even if we got some it would be very expensive, and it is no longer green so it wouldn’t help the environment around us,” explained Serdy. “And the unit we would need to run is massive. Honestly it would probably cost millions to run it.”
Now, everyone would love if we had some nice cool air in every room here, but it would be very difficult to do so.
“It would be like we’re air conditioning all of Beacon Falls. And we only need the air for a few months and spending that much for a few months out of the year,” Serdy explained, “It would be different if it was hot like this every day, but we’re just going to have to stick it out.”
It is understandable to see why there isn’t any air conditioning here after seeing the unimaginable amounts of supplies and money that would have to go into doing so.
That is why only certain rooms like the gym, library, office, and teachers centers are air conditioned.
While at times it may get too hot, it is bearable. Wearing lighter clothing can help the cause along with making sure you are hydrated throughout the day. Winter is on it’s way and before you know it, it will be chilly in the classrooms.

If we can afford to buy smartboards for every single classroom in Woodland, I think the budget can allow for air conditioning for several months. Like the article said, the air conditioning wouldn’t be all year, and so neither would the cost.

SmartBoards for every classroom, INCLUDING some of our flex rooms? What’s up with that? I fail to see how that’s even necessary…and yet it’s higher on the list of priorities than air conditioning.

I agree with Malcom, if we can afford a library with literally thousands of books, laptops for every teacher, multiple rooms devoted to only computers, and a pool we dont even use, we should be able to afford AC. Plus, if people are getting heat strokes, and were getting early dismissals becuase of heat, it becomes a matter of needs, not wants.
