National Junior Honor Society Induction

On Thursday, February 25th, thirty eighth graders were inducted into the Denis F. Broderick Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society at Long River Middle School.

The ceremony started off with Karlee Vogel, a new member, playing music on the piano while the Pledge of Allegiance was led by former Vice president Carla Ciaramella.

Mrs. Jayne Lanphear, principal at Long River Middle School, made an introduction which was followed by a speech from Superintendent Mr. James C. Agostine.

Two former officers, Pat Dietz and Ian Chamenko each made a speech. Then, former president, Ryan Hollub, introduced the new members to the symbolic meaning of lighting of the candles.

After the new members lighted their candles, current president Jacqueline Magner introduced the two new co-vice presidents, Alexa Kiernan and Casey Stevens, the new secretary, Audra Blewitt, and the new treasurer, Allison Noble.

The new officers talked about scholarship, character, citizenship, leadership, and service.

After the new officers talked, the new members were introduced by Mrs. Sandra Panteleo and presented by Jayne Lanphear. The members then recited the National Junior Honor Society pledge.

Overall, this was a great honor for the students who dedicated themselves to achieving excellence in the classroom.
