Unified Sports Program

Wouldn’t it be great if all people, every shape and size, could fit in with society and play together as if they were friends? Well, that’s just not how it is today. Special needs teens and kids are ridiculed and made fun of because they are not like everyone else. But after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, these kids can play different sports and have fun together while learning and enjoying themselves.
Mr. George Meyers, Head Coach of the team, teaches the girls and boys of Woodland about the rules and fun that comes of playing different sports. This program is a very good idea in which it will teach these students that cannot learn on their own about the basic rules of different recreational activities and the fun that comes from playing them.
The age level of the program ranges from freshman to the seniors. This also gives the students a chance to get to know the upper-classmen. The group also gives regular students a chance to work with the kids and interact with them by playing sports. These helpers can assist in improving the players shot, help them to dribble properly, and even to play in 5 on 5 games.
The team, who holds practice in the gym after school, and plays until the end of the school year, will eventually get into competition with other high school teams with the same program. This will give the players a chance to get familiar with competition and earn more experience.
Furthermore, the whole program is great because it is getting the kids to exercise. Because these kids cannot play on a typical sports team, they need a way to get up and keep physically fit, which is always a great feeling. Another great feeling is helping somebody in need, and that’s what you would experience in joining the Unified Sports Program.
