Hawks Splash ‘Hounds in NVL Rivalry

On Friday, October 9th Woodland participated in a swim meet versus Naugatuck.

Most of the crowd was wearing pink t-shirts. The reason behind all of the pink was the selling of breast cancer awareness shirts, that  displayed an “Are you aware?” slogan.

The air among the crowd was dense as the Hawks and the Greyhounds swam it out. In the end, Woodland came out victorious. The concluding score to the meet was Woodland 94 and Naugatuck 87.

Woodland’s Alyssa Maggiore, Sam Angeloszek, Chrissy Leeper, and Jill Pagoni successfully swam the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:07.13; Katie Jean Hinckley won the 200 free with a time of 2:09.34; Diving with the win was Dayna Chucta with a score of 179.25; the winner of the 500 free was Hinckley with a time of 5:36.39; the 200 free relay was swam by Sydney Corneau, Pagoni, Leeper, and Hinckley and their time was 1:53.6. Finally the 100 back was won by Maggiore and her time was 1:11.62.

Woodland advances to 5-2 in their 2009-10 season, and Naugatuck sinks to 1-3.

The win was very valuable to the Hawks. Woodland Coach Mike Magas, said, “At this point of the season this win is still a little bit early, there are still more tough meets to come.”
