Hawks Volleyball Preview

It’s that time of year again and fall sports are underway. The Woodland Regional High School volleyball team has been hard at work preparing for their season and making final adjustments before their regular season games start.
Senior Stephanie Badale did the Wolcott Summer camp to prepare for the season, which she has a goal to get atleast five kills per game.
This season for the volleyball program, there are the Freshman, JV, and Varsity squads.
Leading the volleyball Varsity team this year is coach James Amato and senior captains Kaiti Lembo and Emily Hutvagner.
The team did a lot of conditioning and worked on individual skills to improve before tryouts and the regular season started.
Woodland Volleyball also participated in two scrimmages, against Hyde Leadership and Pomperaug.
“I hope to help and encourage my team to be successful in both winning percentages and retaining positive attitudes. I also want to assure that everyone will enjoy themselves, as well as work hard to become the best that they possibly can be,” Said Captian Lembo.
As a team goal, they hope to win the NVL title. “As a team, we like to take things one point, one game, and one match at a time. We hope that, ultimately, it will lead us to NVL and state championships, but we need to remain focused and not get ahead of ourselves at any point in the season,” Lembo reminds her teammates.
Under Hutvagner and Lembo’s leadership, this team is well underway to be successful in many ways
“If we continue to play the way I know we can, remain as tightly bonded as we have been in the past, and come to each game with full energy, then we will be an incredibly strong force to be dealt with,” Lembo believes.
