The Beginning of the Hawks

It’s back to school for the Woodland Hawks, which means the start of another exciting season for the boy’s football team. Coach, Chris Moffo, led the boys into their first game on Friday, September 8th at 7:00 P.M at Crosby High School, along with senior captains Justin Morrone, Jackson Henry, and Joseph Kmetz.

When asked if excited for the season, Junior, Carter Amore stated that,

“I am very excited. We are no longer a young team and we have good chemistry. I also want to see how we match up against some of the league’s best teams.”

Senior captain Joseph Kmetz followed that saying he believes they have a chance competing in the NVLs this season. The Hawks are confident that they are prepared for the season. They have been training hard since January and both Amore and Kmetz have faith that the team is ready. Amore and Kmetz agree that their favorite part about playing Woodland football is how close they get with the team. Kmetz explained that the team becomes a family, and all the boys grow a strong bond. Going into the season Amore feels like the team has many strengths.

“I feel like we have great talent across the board. We have great running backs and a very good offensive line. I feel our weaknesses are a few lingering injuries some of my teammates have,” says Amore

Kmetz added to that saying, “our strengths are a great defense, but our weakness is low numbers.”

As a captain, Kmetz believes that the thing that makes the team the most successful is good communication. All in all, the boys are glad to be back and ready for an exciting season.
