Chromebooks: What is the plan for next year?

In the 2016-2017 school year, the freshmen and sophomore got their own personal chromebooks to take home. They also get to keep it for over the summer for their summer work. The seniors and juniors didn’t get them, however upcoming seniors are getting chromebooks next year that they get to take to college with them.

Next year all the grades are planned to get chromebooks. They will be considered a school tool similar to a textbook. Every students will get one whether they want one or not. The incoming freshmen will have to be getting brand new ones.

Insurance is available to the students. The insurance on the chromebooks are $30 and must be renewed yearly. The insurance covers from August to July of the next year. The insurance insures that each students will get a working chromebook while they’re at Woodland. The insurance is off as soon as the students graduate or stop paying for it.

All of the chromebooks will be monitored on and off school ground. The school uses iboss and goguardian to supervise over the students during the school hours. While at school, teachers have access to the students screen and can see what the students are on. Although the school can still block certain websites, the school cannot see the screens after hours.

“They can’t get to site they shouldn’t be on, but they can go wherever they want because they are on their home Wi-Fi” , says Jim Amato.
