Dunkin’ Donuts Vs. Starbucks

It’s a Monday morning, you’re drained from your weekend and you need to get yourself a caffeinated beverage or else you can’t function. Where do you go? It’s a tough choice. Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks?

Dunkin’ Donuts

Food Selection

Many students stroll into school with Dunkin’ Donuts on a Monday morning. It’s local, well priced, and tasty. First off, Dunkin’ has a wide range food such as, donuts, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and muffins. All of these options aren’t too pricy and, not to mention, their donuts are famously known and you can buy munchkins in boxes of 25 or 50. With over 50 donut flavors, you name it and they have it.

Cost

Dunkin’ is much more cheaper then Starbucks. A plain, grande latte at Starbucks cost $3.65, while the same size latte at Dunkin’ costs around $3.29. Dunkin’ will also add flavor extracts like sugar, milk, and cream, to your drink for no extra charge!

DD Perks

Like Starbucks, Dunkin’ has a special rewards program for people who live and breath coffee. When you download the Dunkin’ Donuts app you can find locations near you, send gift cards to friends and get deals on drinks and food. What broke high school student doesn’t want some money off their coffee?

Coolattas

Although Starbucks has “frappucinos,” it’s difficult to pass on a refreshing and cold coolatta in the hot summer. They have flavors ranging from Oreo and coffee to strawberry and frozen lemonade.

Starbucks

Atmosphere

Walk into a Starbucks and you will feel right at home. Quiet and cozy and perfect for studying. Visitors will often see college students studying with their latte or hot chocolate scrambling to study for finals.

Healthy Options

Starbucks just doesn’t sell pastries and sugary drinks. They also sell their options of healthy drinks and foods. Starbucks offers organic coffees and drinks. Talk about healthy!

Dairy Free Options

Coconut milk and almond milk are available to you if you do not want straight up milk.

Frappuccinos

There are always new options to choose from, changing year round, and are often known to have a richer flavor.

Customizable

You know you love having the workers at Starbucks ask you your name, writing it on the cup, and calling out your name when your drink is ready. Also, you can customize your drinks and order off the secret list. You might get glares from people in line from holding them up, but hey it’s worth it.

What do Students of Woodland Prefer?

There were many different opinions when it came to choosing which coffee joint to go to. A poll posted on Twitter concluded that Dunkin’ was much more preferred. 69% preferred Dunkin, while only 31% chose Starbucks.

“I think Dunkin’ is a lot more convenient. There’s more of them around and less expensive than Starbucks,” said sophomore Maeve Sardinskas. “But, Starbucks has better quality, they just don’t have a lot of them around so it’s easier to go to Dunkin when in need of a quick coffee.

Woodland alumni, Harry Clark ,who currently works at Starbucks said, “Working for Starbucks, but being a Dunkin’ fan for life puts me in an interesting position. When I want a cheap fix that isn’t coffee at all, Dunkin’ is the way to go. If you want to have a real cup of coffee, or an interesting drink, Starbucks is the way to go. “

Senior Lindsey Gabianelli says that she enjoys both. “I like both. When I’m feeling lavish i go to Starbucks, especially during the holidays because creme brulee latte and peppermint mocha can’t be beat.”

All in all, it seems to depend on personal preferences which joint you prefer. Wherever you decide, be sure to treat yourself!
