Woodland Football to Face Sacred Heart in Week Three

Coming into Week 3, the Hawks are 0-2 on the new season. They’ll ll look to turn that around this week against Sacred Heart this Friday at home.

In their first two games, the Hawks defense allowed 40 plus points. The struggle of the defensive line may have been a result of an injury to a young defense and a key player, Cody Doyle, who is injured for at least another week. Recently, Tom Smith is the latest Hawk to be put on the Injury Report. This could be a concern considering Smith is the number one corner and Sacred is a throw first team. Smith and Negron have been the two key offensive players for the Hawks so far this season. With Smith now out, Negron will be receiving the majority of the carries in the backfield. Last game, Negron came away with his first touchdown of the season and 117 yards in the loss. Negron has been one of the most consistent players for the Hawks this season as he has ran for a total of 296 yards for the Hawks.

Sacred Heart will be facing Woodland with a 1-1 record on the season. They are coming off of a 42-14 loss against Oxford at home. Their win came against St. Paul away. They are now 1-0 for away games and the Hawks are 0-1 at home. Last game, the Hearts’ Quarterback, Trey Dawson, had 49 attempts last game with 27 completions. In the first two games, the Hawks faced two offenses that favored the running game. They will now have to adapt to the passing game from Dawson. However, the Hearts running game is led by Senior, Joel Guzman who ran for 24 yards last game and a total of 20 yards on the season because he ran for a total of -4 yards in Week 1 against St. Paul.

Last year, the Hawks beat Sacred Heart and they hope to repeat history here in Week 3. Hawk Headlines will be broadcasting this game. Stay tuned to the Hawk Headlines twitter (@hawk_headlines) for the link to the live broadcast.
