The Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Field teams finished the last of their NVL-conference meets this Tuesday. Both teams swept all three competitors–Watertown, Holy Cross, and Naugatuck. The win sealed the undefeated record for the girls at 14-0, while boys finished almost perfect, 13-1, with one close loss to Seymour.
All of the winning this season have been a team effort from the many athletes on the team. The team works well individually and as a group, which shows as they won five out of six of the meet relays. Woodland took both girls and boys 4×800 and 4×400, while the boys also won 4×100. Individually, the team won an event nine times. Sean McAllen, senior, won three events–100 dash, 200, and javelin. Together, senior Brandon Clifford and junior Quincy Koch took both hurdle events, with Clifford winning 110 hurdles and Koch winning 300. Senior Colton Cronin won the 400.
The team faces non-conference Platt Tech and O’Brien Tech next Tuesday, May 17 home at 3:30 p.m. The team is also looking ahead and preparing for the NVL meet in Torrington later in May.
