Mrs. Barbero’s Class Performs Roman Emperor Menu Project

Melissa Barbero is conducting a project with her classes called the Roman Emperors Menu Project. The students are put into groups of two and three and are assigned a Roman Emperor to base their four course menu off of.  The point of the project is to make as many connections to their assigned emperor as possible.

“The students use a handout of information and they make connections between various people, places, dates, events, anything significant in the emperor’s life and incorporate it into their project” Barbero explained.

The smallest element of that emperor’s life can be incorporated as long as it’s a justifiable detail. One group of students had hot chicken legs as part of an appetizer and explained the reason they chose that was because their emperors leg was purposely broken.
After the menus are completed, the groups are also responsible for coming up with a skit to enhance their presentation. Students will be graded on how much they contributed to the project, how spot on their connections are, and how creative their skits are.
