Beacon Falls Pizza Spotlight

The welcoming aroma of warm, Greek-style pizza fills the air. From behind the counter, a cheerful waitress smiles and proceeds to assist you with anything you need. The sound of laughter and 60’s music resonates through the room- it is no wonder why Beacon Falls Pizza Palace is a hallmark of this tiny town.

Each day, regulars and newcomers float in and out to taste the authentic Greek pizza served since 1984. The restaurant has been owned by Peter Hatzidimitriou, or “Pizza Pete”, for about ten years. He was raised in Agia Paraskevi, a town in Greece, and has been working in the pizza industry since the age of 18.

The Greek-style pizza created here is different from traditional Italian pizza, because it is cooked in a large oven in deep-dish metal pans. Each morning, Hatzidimitriou cooks sauce and makes fresh dough by hand for his adoring customers. He believes that quality pizza comes from quality ingredients.

“We top the pizzas with fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh sauce, fresh toppings- everything is fresh,” explains Hatzidimitriou.

For those who don’t like pizza, this restaurant also crafts fantastic grinders, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and italian dinners year-round. In the winter, hot soups are made each morning to warm customers up from the bitter cold outside.

“Every fall, we start getting requests for soups- the fan favorite nowadays is the clam chowder, but we also make a chicken noodle soup and chili,” said Pete.

Anyone who walks in the restaurant on a Friday night can see that Beacon Falls Pizza is a local favorite, and is a welcoming environment for people to meet up and hang out.

“What makes our pizzas stand out from the rest,” said Pete, “is the experience and care that goes into making them. I love what I do, and I love serving Beacon Falls.”
