Food Drive Helping Community Members in Need

Of the myriad of students and advisories at Woodland, only a few cans of soup, pasta, cereal, and red sauce are representing our food drive contest. Now, even after the food drive started on September 21, a single box still has not been filled. Making an effort to participate in the food drive contest will ultimately help to better the status of the Beacon Falls- Prospect community.

The food drive contest is essentially a competition between advisories, but it also has a greater purpose. At the end of the drive, all food and items that were collected will then be donated to the Spooner House homeless shelter and soup kitchen.

Each item that is brought in should be marked with the student’s advisory name and room number. As with many competitions, each item is worth a certain amount of points. The points from all items will be tallied up on October 9 and whichever advisory receives the most points will be rewarded with an ice cream social day.

If you would like to participate and help the Spooner House homeless shelter, you are encouraged to bring in any items listed on the pink posters around the school, such as boxed dry/instant foods or canned foods. Items can be dropped off in the guidance office with Mrs. Murdy or one of the secretaries.
