On a band’s website, Harvey Danger, they quote, “It’s important that people understand the free download concept isn’t a frivolous act. It’s a key part of our promotional campaign, along with radio and press promotion, live shows, and videos.”

Not too long ago, the band U2, released their whole album, Songs of Innocence. The whole album was automatically downloaded on to Apple users’ devices. In 2003, U2 worked with Apple to start up iTunes Store. They “share a special connection in music” as said on the Apple website.

One Direction also had announced their new album, FOUR, and one of their songs was free for the time period of 24 hours on their website. According to the video the video they posted along with the song, “Fireproof”, the song was dedicated to their fans, or “Directioners” because of everything that they had done for the boys in four years.
