Reach Out Your Hand by Katelin Donnelly

Heart starts racing, pounding inside

“Forgot about homework” she lied.

Too many bad thoughts,

In her mind it clots.

“Please don’t look at me!

Can’t you let me be?

No one cares about my petty life,

Every day I live in strife.”

Just like the 14 thousand like her

They battle to find their hope and cure.

Chorus:

Scars lay littering her wrists

Razor clutched in harsh fists

Blood pools in her hand

She waits to end Time’s sand.

Her heart takes so much pain.

Searching for a savior in her vein.

Help to save her pretty soul

To take away the pain is our goal.

She’s one in twelve that takes this torture.

Of that very fact we are sure.

Maybe pills will ease her mind

Happy thoughts she tries to find

No hope for a well future

No doubt they will lose her

Deeper and deeper she will carve

Maybe even let her starve

There is no limit how to go

When she’s gone they will know

She’s of 45% of teens with this dark

On their souls it leaves its mark

Chorus

Scars lay littering her wrists

Razor clutched in harsh fists

Blood pools in her hand

She waits to end Time’s sand.

Her heart takes so much pain.

Searching for a savior in her vein.

Help to save her pretty soul

To take away the pain is our goal.

Diseases like depression need a treatment.

Some people need to take the hint.

She’s met the bottom of every bottle

Heading down hill full throttle.

Drunken cries in the night

Not much longer she can fight.

Getting high to calm herself,

Not worrying about her health.

Five of a hundred have never done so

‘Cuz they are the ones who know

Do as others do and you will die

She doesn’t care she wants the sky.

Help her, help her please.

Anything that will make this ease.

Chorus

Scars lay littering her wrists

Razor clutched in harsh fists

Blood pools in her hand

She waits to end Time’s sand.

Her heart takes so much pain.

Searching for a savior in her vein.

Help to save her pretty soul

To take away the pain is our goal.

Don’t make it worse and call them names.

Every 18 seconds someone ends the game.
