Erin’s Closet: Dressed Up to Get Messed Up

Navy blazers and printed bowties, fraternity boys all across America swear by this uniform. Whether they are partying with the top sorority on campus or going to class, fraternity boys are always dressed up to get messed up.

Male college students are able to join organizations referred to as fraternities where the boys share the same interests, and from there, feelings of friendship and brotherhood are shared throughout the fraternity.

For a frat boy, stepping into Sperry Top-Sider’s is as common as brushing their teeth. They slide into their sport coats but keep things a bit more casual with khakis or shorts. Nantucket red pants and mint pastels are worn throughout the spring especially. Simple button ups in white and blue are tucked into their choice of colored pants, and completed with a bowtie, commonly printed with a fun pattern. American flag printed shorts are commonly seen on frat boys who proudly like to show their patriotism. Paired with a white button up and a navy or red bowtie, everyday looks like the fourth of July.

On the way to class, the quiet tapping of worn suede dark brown Sperry’s on the asphalt is heard as a tall well groomed brunette walks to class carrying pre-law books. A navy sport coat is tailored perfectly to his body, as well as his tan khakis. Gold buttons on the sleeves of the sport coat matches the gold accents on the brown leather belt perfectly. A neatly tied bowtie printed with little pink whales is around his neck.

I believe you can never be two things, overdressed and overeducated. Fraternity boys are both.
