Triple the E days

Region 16 has had 6 snow days so far in the 2013-2014 school year. And five out of these six snow days were E-days at Woodland.

Going into classrooms following these snow days it was common to hear how far students were beginning to fall behind, especially in their E-day Classes. All of the snow days really began taking away from students ability to learn needed information in their classes.

For AP teachers this is a struggle taking time away that they need for the AP exams coming up in May. The tests available to  AP students in these classes potentially allow high school students to get college credit, and just because there are snow days these test dates do not change. For teachers and students these snow days started causing headaches.

Prior to taking an AP exam it is up to the teacher to give students all of the information they need.

“It will greatly benefit AP as it allows more contact time to cover the material since the AP date does not move,” said AP World History Teacher, Chris Tomlin.

Since there have been so many snow days it has not even been just the AP classes that have started to fall behind. All teachers and students are finding it difficult to juggle the stress of missing so many E-days.

In order to gain time in these classes now when students are focused rather than at the end of the year, the school has decided that  March 7th, 10, and 11th will all be E-days. Having three E-days in a row will be a huge benefit to both teachers and students.  While AP exams may seem far away now, they will be here soon. These three E-days will not only work to benefit students who are preparing for these exams, but will help everyone get caught up in all of their classes.
