Halo Award Nominations Released

For the past ten years, the Seven Angels Theater located in Waterbury, Connecticut has been honoring high school drama clubs from around the state with their prestigious Halo Awards.

According to the Seven Angels Theater website, the goal of these awards is to acknowledge and congratulate all  students who participate in high school theater. However, not only are the actors and actresses awarded but those who work behind the scenes are acknowledged as well.

This year is the tenth anniversary of the Halo Awards and the award ceremony will take place on May 28th and 29th at the Palace Theater in Waterbury. Over 40 schools from Connecticut, including Woodland,  will be in attendance.

The Woodland Drama Club received ten Halo Award nominations, the most nominations they have ever received, for this year’s productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Little Shop of Horrors. Woodland’s nominations included:

“The Drama Club is like a hidden gem, there is so much talent in our department,” said Catherine Pelkey, recipient of two Halo Nominations for her roles in  Woodland’s productions. “I’m hoping all these nominations will shine more light on the Drama Club.”
