Kaylee’s illustration

When Kaylee Velez was five years old she started off drawing animals. When she got older she switched to drawing people, then cartoons and she has been drawing ever since. One of her dreams was to have her art work published in a book and her dream finally came true.

Velez, Woodland sophomore, had the opportunity to illustrate Deathly Pale by Anthony Paolucci.

Velez’s lifelong dream has always been to become an artist and she feels that this is a good step towards her dream.

She is very artistic and loves to draw, but she often feels very insecure about her work. However, all of this is about to change.

“I am a little nervous about the book signing but this is also exciting because I know my name is in someone else’s book,” said Velez.

Not only is Velez doing art in her free time she is also involved in Drawing and Painting 1, Illustration, 2D Design, and Graphic Design. She is always practicing her work or studying more artwork in her free time. Right now, she is currently illustrating a screen play.  Velez had her work in the art show each year during elementary school.

Velez said” I feel better about my artwork because I know it is published in someone’s book.”

Velez will face her fears since she will be having a book signing at the Beacon Falls Library on Saturday May 11, th from 11 to 1pm. She looks forward to illustrating more books later on in her life.
