Junior Class Sells Carnations for Valentine’s Day

DSC_0003Despite the near 3 feet of snow that Winter Storm Nemo dropped on the East Coast this week, Woodland students returned to school on February 14th, just in time for Valentine’s Day. For the Class of 2014 class officers, that meant that their carnation sale would still go on. The class officers had been planning to sell the carnations throughout the week leading up to Valentine’s Day during lunch waves and then deliver the carnations on Valentine’s Day during advisory. “But because we didn’t have school the whole week, we decided to just sell the flowers all day on Valentine’s Day,” said Class of 2014 President Caroline Ecke. Members of the junior class as well as the officers took turns selling the flowers, for $2 each, at a table at the end of their hallway all day on Thursday. During advisory, members of the junior class delivered the flowers to students. Students and teachers could also purchase flowers to give to loved ones themselves, instead of having them delivered. “Even though it was last minute,” said Ecke, “I think the sale was a big success.”
