What To Do This Week: Set Your DVR to Record The Carrie Diaires

Being a teenager is tough. You aren’t a kid anymore, but you aren’t an adult yet either. It’s the time when you’re supposed to “find yourself”, who you want to be, what you want to do. Which isn’t actually easy.

Especially if you’re Carrie Bradshaw, the main character in The Carrie Diaries series a spin-off of the TV show Sex and the City.

We meet Carrie Bradshaw, played by AnnaSophia Robb, in a small town in Connecticut. The year is 1984, Carrie is  starting her junior year in high school and her mother just passed away.

Carrie’s family spent the summer trying to pick up the pieces after her mother’s death. Her 14-year old sister picked up a new rebellious attitude, staying out all night and experimenting with drugs. Carrie’s father is overwhelmed as he tries to assume the role of two parents.

For Carrie, going back to school has its ups downs.

She is finally reunited with her three best friends, quiet and nerdy Mouse, loud and outgoing Maggie, and sweet Walt.

Back at school, Carrie also finds a possible new romance on the rise when an old friend, Sebastian, transfers to her high school.

But small town Connecticut isn’t doing much to help Carrie get over the loss of her mother.

So her father comes up with an idea. One day a week Carrie will be an intern in his friend’s law firm in Manhattan.

The experience proves to be just what Carrie needs to break out of her funk.

On her first day in Manhattan, she meets an editor of a big time fashion magazine Larissa, who introduces Carrie to the fast and fabulous world that she lives in.

And so starts Carrie’s lifelong love affair with Manhattan.

“I love The Carrie Diaries!” said sophomore Meghan Terry, “It’s a show that any teenager can relate to.”

Be sure to set your DVR to record The Carrie Diaries, Mondays at 8 on the CW Network.
