Student Council Senate Update

On Monday January 14th afterschool the Woodland Regional High School had a senate meeting.

During this meeting the bill concerning a fundraiser for Camp Sunshine was passed. Camp Sunshine is a year round program in Maine that is for children with life threatening illnesses and their immediate family members. This camp costs nothing for the family and provides a place for the family to get away and just spend some time together where their child can still be safe and have help. The WRSC from January 15th-18th will be collecting money donations throughout lunch waves. All the money collected will be donated to this program to help pay for the families expenses so that they can attend for free.

Also during the meeting the bill for the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund was passed. This bill was put in place so that the WRSC could donate $300 from their charitable accounts to go in support of victims of Hurricane Sandy. The WRSC hopes that in donating this money it can be put to good use to help families that are struggling.

The next planned meeting for the WRSC Senate will be Monday January 28th after school.
